A 16-year-old from Upper Marlboro has been arrested and charged as an adult after police said he shot a 15-year-old following an argument at Prince George’s Community College’s Largo campus.
The shooting happened Thursday, September 25, 2026, and led to a lockdown at the college while officers investigated.
According to Prince George’s County police, the two teenagers had been involved in an argument before the gunfire.
15-Year-Old Injured in Shooting
Police said the 15-year-old later arrived at a medical center at about 11:40 a.m. with a gunshot wound.
His injuries were described as minor, and he was expected to recover. Authorities said the injured teenager is a student within the Prince George’s County Public Schools system.
Investigators determined that the shooting took place at the Largo campus, prompting officers to respond to the college around noon.
PGCC and Nearby School Placed on Lockdown
Following the incident, Prince George’s Community College was placed under lockdown as police searched the area and investigated what had happened.
A shelter-in-place order was also issued during the response.
Nearby Largo High School was placed under a precautionary lockdown through dismissal because of the shooting investigation.
Teen Arrested and Charged With Attempted Murder
Police arrested the 16-year-old suspect Friday evening.
Authorities said he is being charged as an adult with attempted murder in connection with the shooting. The case remains under investigation as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the argument and gunfire.
